EMILY CLEMENTINE

Sentir No. 1 2017

48 x 60 in (121.92 x 152.4 cm) Acrylic, glass bead, and gel impasto on canvas

"Sentir, meaning “to feel” in French, is a series based on the feeling in color and texture. Through the exploration of surface texture, this series integrates an array of mixed media with the application by a paintbrush, palette knife, and hand. The ability for the viewer to interact with art, both emotionally and palpably, is the experience I build upon in this series. Rotating canvases, capturing new perspectives and feeling the surface textures transforms the traditional notion of art solely for viewing. Visual depth created by color accompanies gestural impasto raised atop the canvases surface. The sensation of experiencing the texture of art is captured with the same freedom I pour into creation." - Emily Clementine

The artist is influenced by Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko, Gerhard Richter, Abstract expressionism, Color field painting
