This digital edition of SpotteArt welcomes a collaborative effort with SlideLuck, a non-profit arts production platform. Titled SlideLuck Youth Initiative Fundraiser, it invites the collectors and Spotte patrons to support and acquire photography works by young, emerging talents who are mentored by the art professionals from Slideluck. All sales go back directly to the students and equipment for after-school arts programs. In doing so, SLYI develops valuable skills, enriches student’s lives, and strengthens the community.

Slideluck Youth Initiative (SLYI) is an after-school photography program where hands-on instructors foster creative expression and empower students through the fundamentals of photography and multimedia storytelling. SLYI currently has chapters in six schools around the country: the Bronx, East New York, Los Angeles, Brooklyn Heights and Midway, Utah. SLYI has also been active in Harlem, the Bronx, Bushwick and debuted at the ROKPA Children’s Home in Nepal in the spring of 2015.

The program provides interactive learning opportunities for the students and works on giving them as much hands-on time with the cameras as possible.  Each week, the students are visited by a variety of professionals working in the field and there are field trips to location shoots and visits to photographer’s studios.  SYLI is also working to create an international network that connects youth photography programs and aspiring young photographers both online and at Slideluck events.

For their first joint digital exhibition, Spotte & Slideluck curated a selection of works by the following students: Dashiem Davidson, Jaylin Davis, Nandi-Iman Sunni-Ali, Kofi Boateng, Sydney Bennion, Natalie and Valerie Felix, Daisy Mendieta, Sheng Hao Zheng, Sultana Begum
