"With a gesture, drawing out, and layering, material and process, revelatory of each other; making is part of the content. Drawn to the potential of tools and materials beyond their original function, my practice is inspired by chance, control, and uncertainty. I like to mess with things, am interested in the raw and refined, in the relationship between substance and fragility. I love paper, it is so forgiving. I am influenced by skin, the tactile connection between the interior and exterior. I think about the human condition, its motion, beauty, and edge. Everything we touch leaves a change. For me, a concept has to engage a visceral element. Using unconventional tools like thread, blades, and fire, I follow the urge to intuitively alter, advance, conceal or reveal, developing a language. I am engaged with morphing, re-metabolizing, and transformation." - Ula Einstein
Artist is influenced by Eva Hesse, Ana Mendieta, Ann Hamilton, El Anatsui
