I consider my work to be a form of abstract expressionism. The subject matter varies from landscapes, flowers and trees, to city streets. My intention is to simplify the subject before me to its most natural elements of light, color and composition. The outcome is an image of bold color and gestural movement that allows for freedom of interpretation. I particularly love this quote by Thoreau, “it isn’t what you look at, it’s what you see.”
This particular series of images share a fall theme. This time of year generates an amazing array of natural colors and beautiful light. The images you see are what is captured by the lens and camera.
Artist is influenced by: masters of expressionism, Van Gogh, Monet, photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto and Jackson Pollock for more abstract expressionism
Bio
Peter Daitch is a native New Englander, born in 1962, and raised in the Boston area. He received his BFA in Photography in 1985 from the University of Bridgeport CT. His most recent work focuses on unique abstracts taken from nature and the colorful world around.
Having lived in Lyme, CT for over 20 years, many of his photographs were inspired and shot in the Lyme area, known for it’s natural beauty and light. His more recent work comes from his travels between the mountains and the sea.
Peter was recently exhibiting in the Southern Vermont Art Center and was published in “Stream” magazine.
