Lucia Fanzilber
In this collaboration with NATOORA and ceramist Marcela Caruso we created this series of Edible bouquets around the concept of seasonality and intending to reconnect people with that calendar. With these bouquets we want to give back fruits and vegetables the power and protagonism they deserve as centerpieces.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1986. Studied Costume Making Design for Theatre workshops at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires followed by Art Direction in Filmmaking at The Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires (FUC). After graduating in 2008, worked as a colorist in postproduction, color-correcting movies in a Visual Mastering Studio before moving to New York to study at the International Center of Photography (ICP). While working as a fashion photographer she also developed her personal work.
Since 2014, she has been represented by Praxis Art Gallery in NY and participated in group shows in LA, Miami and London as well as having her own solo shows “And Spring Again”, “Somewear”, “Wild Flowers” and “The Cookbook”. In 2017 she participated in a group show during Paris Photo in France and received the First Prize at the International Fine Art Photography Awards from the Paris College of Art. In October 2018 she has been part of the Barcelona Biennale of Photography and received the Bronze Prize from the Prix de la Photographie Emerging artists photo prize and Honorable Mention at the International Photography Awards. In 2019 her series “Paradise” has been exhibited in Gericke + Paffrath Gallery in Düsseldorf, Germany. In the two consecutive years 2021 and 2022 her pieces “Untitled #31” and “Untitled #30” from the series “Somewear” have been selected to be auctioned at the Phillips Auction House in London, UK resulting in two sold out pieces for this series.
In July 2022 her last project “Flowers Never bend with the Rainfall” was exhibited at Praxis Gallery in NYC. “Untitled (The Female Gaze)” a site -specific installation which includes a selection of her work, has been exhibited in the Miami Design District as part of the curated public cultural experiences of the Dacra community program. In September 2022 she participated in the Latin American Art Triennial happening in NYC and actually her series “The Cookbook” is being part of the show “Food and Fashion” at the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NY. The voice she developed as an artist allowed her to shot commercial work for clients like Daily Harvest, Ceremonia, Joanna Vargas, Capital One, Revlon, Adidas, and many other brands making both worlds converge.
